Wait. I’ve heard about this, but what exactly IS Content Marketing?

If you’re going to compete in the online market (and we totally think you should), then you MUST have a content marketing strategy in place. So how do you achieve this? By being human. By being real. By having an actual, real life, honest to goodness person writing stuff that speaks to your audience.
Content marketing, in short is:
- The vehicle of sharing your perspective
- The outlet to show your authenticity and unique style to the world
- The very thing that creates a brand’s tone of voice, visual style, and message
- Builds relationships, forges a human connection
Without it, you will fail. It’s seems drastic, but it’s true. Think about any company you have encountered within the last five years. Did they have some way of collecting your email address? Okay, if so, did they send you emails on a relatively regular basis?
Whether you know it or not, that is content marketing. It is the new advertising. Gone are the days of TV ads and radio spots. While these are still important mediums, they are not what drive sales online.
What drives sales is email marketing, social media marketing, blogging, podcasts – CONTENT. Without it, brands would become irrelevant. The market has shifted and people have come to expect a free flow of information and brand accessibility at the click of a button. Don’t be the poor schmuck who thinks this isn’t valid. Don’t be the only guy on the block NOT doing this. Believe me, you will go the way of the dinosaur if you don’t put your business and your voice out there for people to find.
