I thought it would be good to provide some feedback on the hosts we like best and why we think they are good. This post is strictly our opinion of the many hosts we’ve worked with over the years. This post may contain affiliate links.
SiteGround
With an impressive array of overall services offered, SiteGround is considered the industry leader in the hosting space — and for good reason. From custom software solutions to premium customer support, SiteGround offers the full range of web hosting features, including a free domain and email, Cloudflare CDN, cPanel with SSH access, and unlimited MySQL databases and bandwidth.
Aside from a huge range of hosting services, SiteGround’s customer service has been their claim to fame. They’re processing over 1,500+ tickets, 800+ phone calls and 2,000+ chat requests each day, offering stress-free custom solutions for any given issue.
Likewise, SiteGround is fast and VERY consistent. They had an average uptime of 99.99%, with no spikes or slow loading times whatsoever. They also only had 12 outages in the last year (2016). So far, so good.
WPEngine
WPEngine is VIP WordPress hosting. Their hosting services are fast and their robust servers can handle almost anything. With WPEngine your website will be practically hacker proof, and their customer service is nothing to scoff at either. They offer automatic security updates, daily backups, one-click restore points, automatic caching, top-tier security, one-click staging area, and more. WPEngine is like having an army of WordPress experts on your side for assistance. If you don’t want to deal with the technical side of running your WordPress blog, then WPEngine is the solution for you.
WP Engine is not only worry-free for daily backups and malware scans, but it’s cost efficient. Yes, WP Engine is in fact cheap if you factor in the features that are built directly into the hosting.
Among it’s features, WPEngine offers staging sites that allow you to test stuff, find bugs, and redesign your site without jeopardizing your current site operation. LargeFS allows you to sync all your files with a nominated Amazon S3 bucket, theoretically giving you unlimited storage. Evercache is WPEngine’s in-house caching and it has 1 –click Restore instant backups.
Pantheon
Pantheon management earned two Top Tier WordPress Hosting Performance awards last year, for their entry level Personal plan and their Enterprise level plan. Among these moderate plans, Pantheon can also scale for larger sites to compete with bigger companies in the hosting space.
It handles static assets served from the cache and can scale to very heavy big spikes in traffic. Pantheon does excellent in the uptime department and has an exceptionally developer-centric platform that’s very unique to the field. It’s focused on building a toolkit for development teams to work on a site in an opinionated workflow. If you like that workflow, you get an amazing toolkit combined with scalable performance.
